Step 1: prepare the potatoes.

Peel the onion and rinse under cold running water. We also rinse the knife in cold water and immediately after that we cut the onion. We do this in order to make our eyes water less. The form of slicing does not play a special role, it can be pieces, rings or half rings. Grind the second onion in the same way and put it in a separate plate.

Step 4: prepare the cheese.

Take any hard cheese and grate with large holes. A container with cheese chips can be wrapped in a plastic wrap so that it does not wind off.

Step 5: form the dish.

Now you can proceed directly to the formation of the dish. Lubricate the baking dish with a kitchen brush, paying special attention to the walls. Put meat and onions at the bottom of the container, add salt and black pepper. Drain the water from the plate with potato slices and put them on paper towels, wipe off excess moisture and return them to the plate. After that, salt, pepper and mix well with a tablespoon or hands. Next, put the potatoes on the meat with onions, evenly distribute the circles over the container and pour the mayonnaise on top. Spread it with a tablespoon so that it completely covers all the potatoes in an even layer.

Step 6: bake potatoes in French.

Preheat the oven to 190 - 200 degrees Celsius. If you hid the cheese under a cling film, then remove it and sprinkle our dish with cheese chips. And now, you can clean the form in the oven. Cooking potatoes in French will be approximately 1 hour. During this time, the potatoes and meat are completely baked, and the cheese is melted and covered with a delicious golden crust. Over time, we take the finished dish out of the oven, helping ourselves with kitchen tacks.

Step 7: serve the potatoes in French.

Leave the dish to cool slightly for 5 - 7 minutes and only after that, cut into portioned slices with a kitchen spatula. French fries are served hot and are considered the second course. Such a potato does not need any additions, because it turns out so tasty and satisfying that you just lick your fingers. Enjoy your meal!
